### Responsibilities
Park Rangers - Off-Highway Vehicle (OHV) support the Bureau's recreation program. Major duties for this position focus on providing the public with Off-Highway Vehicle (OHV) information, conduct permit compliance, and safety inspections; responding to OHV emergency situations, greeting riders and providing visitor information and education concerning responsible OHV use on public lands; monitoring use for compliance with BLM travel plan rules and regulations, monitoring for resource damage to roads/trails and are responsible for trail maintenance.
Physical/Working Conditions: Work often takes place in remote environments. The work is performed outdoors in rugged terrain; to include very steep, wet, muddy, rough, uneven or rocky surfaces; positions require physical exertions, such as, bending, crouching, stooping, stretching, reaching, or similar activities. Individuals should be capable of working alone, or with other people, during early morning hours, night, or during the day.

Occasional travel - Travel to the field will be required. Overnight travel may be required on a regular and recurring basis and employee will be required to obtain and use a government charge card, when travel is necessary.

### Qualifications
SELECTIVE PLACEMENT FACTORS: This position requires the following special qualifications that have been determined to be essential to perform the duties and will be used as a screen-out element. Your resume must include evidence that you meet these selective factors or you will be rated as not qualified:
Demonstrated ability and experience working alone and independently in remote outdoor wilderness and recreation sites.
Demonstrated experience using a Global Positioning System (GPS) to record and determine locations and to safely navigate across difficult terrain.
In addition to the Selective Placement Factors, you must also meet the following:
For the GS-5 Park Ranger (OHV) - one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least GS-4 level. Examples of specialized experience may include explaining regulations to park visitors; assists in advising visitors concerning safety, fire prevention and amenities available; assists with issuing reservations and permits; or assists with monitoring special recreation permits. -OR- Successful completion of four year course of study above high school leading to a bachelor's degree with at least 24 semester hours of related course work. -OR- A combination of experience and education to meet total experience.
Related Course Work -- natural resource management, natural sciences, earth sciences, history, archaeology, anthropology, park and recreation management, law enforcement/police science related to the protection of public lands, social sciences, museum sciences, or other closely related subjects pertinent to the management and protection of natural and cultural resources. Course work in fields other than those specified may be accepted if it clearly relates to the duties performed by a Park Ranger.
Specialized Experience: Experience that equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities (KSA's) to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled. To be creditable, specialized experience must have been equivalent to at least the next lower grade level.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
